Two Years of 20% Gains in the S&P 500 Isn’t Enough to Go Bearish

Historically, observing two consecutive years of at least 20% gains in the S&P 500 can signal an optimistic outlook for the third year. In eight similar instances, six resulted in gains, with the highest return being 33.1% in 1997. Losses occurred only twice, with the largest being 9.0% in 2000.

Overall, the historical average is positive, with returns of 12.3%.
